Functions but there are substantial problems. The front sole is machined so that the flat sections of the cutting edge are very exposed and can easily cut the user—beware! This is not the case on older Bridge City soles that I own in other sizes. Also, the profile of the hone does not match the grind of the blade. I had to tape coarse sandpaper to the hone in order to re-profile the blade. A little quality control could save a lot of effort here.
