Very handy for precise applications

I have always wanted to get my hands in one of these. The latest sale made it very appealing so I went for it. Wish the shipping was a little more reasonable for the size of the package but at least I caught it on a sale and discounted shipping on the website, otherwise I would not have gone for it.

The Ultimate Gauge for Woodworkers

I found out about Bridge City a few months ago from a 40 year old copy of “Fine Woodworking” that I have (even wood-guys have “collectibles” right?) and amazingly the company was still around and when I researched their website I was floored by how cool their products are especially the gauges but the cost was a little beyond my wallet so I saved up and after several months finally ordered the UG-1 - it was worth the wait and the money. Bridge City boxed the thing in something that a Rolex watch would be proud to arrive in. The gauge itself is not only a fine piece of tooling but artistically pleasing in its style and the metals used and the colors employed. Not only that but it is useful as way more than a “rafter’s square” (try square) type instrument that I was originally interested in. It is a protractor for dovetails (6:1, 8:1 ratios), a depth and height gauge, a centering rule (stock up to 5 1/2”) and a marking gauge (which I like because I use Japanese hand tools for most of my work and this gauge is much better than the wooden gauges I’ve used). All in all it is worth way more than the price to anyone who enjoys working in wood as an enthusiast or for a living. So squirrel away a few bucks from the grocery bill and after a few months invest in this fine gauge like I did. Even if your spouse balks it will be worth the trouble! Kudos to Bridge City Tool Works and congratulations on staying in business for so long (although with products like the UG-1 it’s not hard to see why they have).

Saw blade angel set

The tool work as good as my 20-25 year old BST do! Set table saw blade more accurately the any other tool.

Build quality yes as good as its beauty

It is nice when a tool is functional and really does what you need. It is a bonus when it is beautiful too. From the box it come sin to the artistry in the design, this is great. Almost looks like something for a display case more than a tool. That said, I got this when I picked up my new saw, and setting the miter gauge to the blade with a square is the standard, using this, I was able to see if it was out and by how much. Setting the fence perpendicular to the table was the same thing. These old eyes sometimes have a hard time seeing the gap wiht a square, here i could see the angle measurement and get it dead on.

A work of art

This thing is beautiful. When I first got it I really debated on just displaying it somewhere and not actually using it out of fear of scratching it. I received this for free with a promo for a Harvey tablesaw.

Functions wise, it has alot of different ways to measure/mark that I have never had on a similar tool. Very precise and dead flat. I've only used it for about a month so far but it's definitely built like a tool and not a fragile art piece.

Overall I'm very impressed with it. It's a great tool and, although I've never put stock in how a tool looks, it's by far the prettiest tool in my little shop.

Elegance and Utility wrapped in one

This Gauge looks like a show piece, it's eye catching, and makes you wonder on whether it works as good as it looks, and it does!
Really love the height/depth gauge to help setup those awkward non-standard heights on the blade/router bit or to get a reading on a slot and the transporter to set a proper angle on your miter gauge.

Accurate & Versitile

Well-made and perfectly accurate. It has many different uses for checking squares, angles, and heights—a definite must for most workshops.
