A gift as precise as the work.
The FC-1 Flushing Chisel is one of the most cherished Bridge City tools and has not been produced in ten years.
As part of our 2013 30th Anniversary, we redesigned the handle and created what we feel is an ergonomically improved version of its original counterpart. When you need it, nothing else works better or faster than the FC-1v2 Flushing Chisel.
Woodworking assemblies often create downstream issues that need to be fixed for professional level work. The most common is unsightly dried glue in corners. Sometimes this can be easily rectified with a bench chisel, however, there are times where the use of a chisel can make the problem worse by removing wood as well as the excess glue. This is next to impossible with our FC-1v2 Flushing Chisel.
Our Flushing Chisel makes cleaning unintentional glue excess in joinery a breeze. Additionally, it can really make a difference in cutting dowels, dovetails, tenons, and plugs perfectly flush with the surface. Simply use the FC-1v2 Flushing Chisel to “score” or undercut a protruding wood member so when you used a plane for the final flush cut, you will have ZERO tear-out. It is entirely possible for smaller protrusions to be flush cut by using the FC-1v2 Flushing Chisel alone.
The A2 iron (which is easily removed for sharpening) features a square edge and an acute edge (approx. 86 degrees) that allows you to clean into any standard corner. It is one of the most useful tools you will ever own. In addition, this iron will fit the original FC-1 handle for those who need a replacement iron.
We made two versions in 2013, one with an anodized aluminum handle and a limited edition stainless steel handled version commemorating our 30th Anniversary.
